There was a lot of love, smiles and a little bit of drooling during Piper and Olive’s session.

Piper turned 6 months old! She is sitting up, chewing on most things and has BIG smiles! She liked crawling towards me and away from me. Piper’s big sister, Olive came to have her photos taken too. Olive was a little more on the reserved side and Piper was a little more rambunctious…like my boys!  Olive sat like a proper little lady on my little vintage chair and had the sweetest smiles for me. Olive and Piper each rocked their adorable little headbands for their session.

Grandma was in town babysitting, so we snapped a few pictures with Grandma and Mommy too. I love when parents and grandparents are included in the photo shoot. These images are memories and they are your legacy that you will leave behind. I mean, who wouldn’t want to look back on their baby pictures when they are older and see photos of their mom and grandma too!

Gabriel 1 Year Session

Gabriel and his 4 siblings came to see me in the studio during Christmas break. Gabe is a whole YEAR old now and is an avid Menomonie Mustang Hockey fan! He is often found cheering on his big brothers and sister from the bleachers!

Gabe loves boating and camping along with chewing on toys and snuggling up with his mama.

Gabe’s favorite people in the whole wide world, are his big brothers and big sister. Gabe also LOVES being thrown in the air by his daddy! Gabe was hard to catch during his session, as he was walking all over and enjoyed having his mom chase him around the studio.

Gabe rocked his session in my studio and I also snagged a few photos of him in my house, where I have a gorgeous handmade (by my amazingly talented husband) barn board headboard that makes a great backdrop!

Now offering prints, canvases, metals, wood products and MORE!

I am excited to share with you, that I am now offering Prints + Products! Allow me to help you with my expertise on placement in your home, as well as gifts for family and friends. Digital images will still be available as an option.

I am so happy that after debating doing this for a couple years, I am finally biting the bullet and ordered lots of fun samples to share with you. This came after a lot of thinking and throwing ideas around about how I can best serve you! I want to be honest with you. I want to continue to be in business in the future. I want to be around to take your child’s photos in 1, 2 and 5 years from now. To do that, I needed to offer more in the way of my business. However, my main concern is to still be able to offer my services to everyone who wants to hire me as their family photographer! Another one of my reasons for switching to offering products is that my heart started to break when I realized that not everyone who has hired me as their photographer has ordered their prints + canvases, etc. Did you know that CDs, Thumb drives, jump drives and even digital files of your images can all fail? Yes, CDs can get scratched and files can become corrupt. I always keep a backup of your images, however these can become corrupt or the cloud can fail! I understand that you all are very busy! But…this means that your images may not always be accessible in the future when you are able to get around to developing the images. So, I want you to have prints + canvases + other really cool products that I will be offering! There are so many amazing products out there that I am so happy to be able to provide this service. I would love to help you decide what will look best in your bedroom, living room, dining room, nursery or cabin! Want gifts for your family?!?! I’ve got you covered!

Self Taught, Natural Light Photographer

Always Learning, Always Growing

To go to school or not to go to school for photography? That is the ultimate question.

I am a self taught, natural light photographer. I started my photography journey when I was pregnant with my second child in 2013. I now have 3 children, all boys. BOY MOM HERE! I wanted to be able to take “better” pictures of my children and so I bought a kit camera that came with 2 lenses. Little did I know that this journey would lead me into owning a photography business. I have always loved photography and taking pictures. I would take hundreds of pictures when I was a little girl. I loved my grandpa’s polaroid camera that made instant photos! I mean how cool was that?!?! So it does make sense that my love of photography has grown into something more, but I never expected to be an entrepreneur. I’ve never even taken a business class and now I am a business owner!!

Now, I don’t really now how to answer the question on whether or not photographers should go to school. And really I don’t feel like I am the person to provide an answer to that. I don’t think anyone can really provide that answer. I think there are always pros and cons to everything. I think it really depends on the person. I am a self taught photographer, however, I have taken some online classes and I am always researching and learning everyday. You tube videos, anyone?!?!?! I recently took an in person newborn and maternity workshop in the twin cities and I learned soooo much! I think I learned two years of information in one day. So, I think as photographers and entrepreneurs we are constantly learning and  growing and striving to make our business and products be the best they can be. Again, I am a natural light photographer, but I did use studio lights for the very first time at the newborn and maternity workshop and that was an amazing experience. I am so excited to see what the future holds for me and my business.

Why Choose Jessica Wayne Photography?

My First Blog Post!

Hello there! I am Jessica, Photographer and Designer of Jessica Wayne Photography. I am so excited that you found my first Blog Post! I hope you enjoy it! So, lets dive right in.

I started Jessica Wayne Photography (JWP) right after my second son was born in 2013. I now have 3 amazing sons! I started out like many other photographers who just wanted a “nicer camera” to take better pictures of their own kids. I never expected my love for photography to turn into a full blown business! But I am so happy it did! I love, love, LOVE all things photography related.  Especially pregnancy and newborn/baby related!

I live in the country, on a farm, yes we have pigs, chickens, cows and cats!  I live in a small community of about 15,000 people. I am a small town girl with a big heart! I am a part time photographer and I am also a part time Registered Nurse. I love helping people and I believe kindness goes a looooong way!

So, Why Choose Jessica Wayne Photography as your photographer…

~ Safety is my top priority! I am a nurse by trade, I was also a labor and delivery nurse, so I know how to handle newborns and babies of all ages safely! I will never risk a baby’s safety just to get a shot. If I need to do a composite of two images to get a great photo of a position that I can not safely do with one image, that is what I will do. Also, I never make promises to provide a specific pose of your newborn. Not all newborns tolerate all of the poses I try to put them in. I will follow the lead of your baby and I know when to change to a different pose.
~Efficiency! I am a very motivated and hardworking gal. Heck, I work two jobs and am raising 3 little boys AND my husband is a farmer (he works looooong hours). But know that I want to get your images edited and back to you as soon as possible! There are many times when I shoot a session and my clients have the completely edited images in their email box the next day. You can’t get that anywhere else! I never make promises I can’t keep, so I tell my clients they will have their photos within 2 weeks and bam, there they are the next day! WOW.
~ I strive to provide quality images that can be turned into pieces of art that you will cherish for years to come. These photographs are not just for you. They are for your family to look back on in 30 or 40 years. Your great grandchildren will look at these photographs and pieces of art. Children often will look at their relatives in photos to see who they look like, who they get their eyes and ears and nose from. I always include parents and siblings in my sessions! In fact, I encourage parents and grandparents to be in the photos. Your great grandchildren will not care or even notice if you didn’t lose all of your baby weight or you have a few too many split ends! 🙂
~I understand that you are placing your trust in me. You have handpicked me to be your family photographer and I am blessed for that. Photography is my area of expertise and I want you to put all of your trust in me to capture some wonderful memories of you and your family and of your newborn. Again, these images will be passed down to the next generations. I recognize that and I will always put forth my best effort to give you beautiful and high quality images.

So…what are you waiting for? Message me, I would LOVE to chat with you!
